LeChalet Restaurant

LeChalet Restaurant

When in Zakopane, make sure you have dinner in Murzasichle at least once. The place to go is the extraordinary Italian restaurant LeChalet, which blends the Italian passion for cooking of the male owner of the restaurant with the highlander spirit of the female proprietor.

LeChalet has everything which is so hard to come by not only in Zakopane restaurants, but also in many Polish cities. The restaurant serves dishes prepared using top-quality products, and the menu is based on seasonal produce. That’s why it is a great adventure to visit the restaurant at least four times a year.

Let’s start with the pizza. It is baked in a hand-made oven fired with beech wood. It is rumoured that the chef is the only person who knows the recipe for the dough. The tomato sauce, mozzarella and many other ingredients necessary for the pizza come straight from Italy. The pizza at LeChalet is delicious - thin dough, few ingredients, high quality cheese and an aroma which you would never be able to capture in many Polish pizzerias. The size of the pizza is perfect for one. It is not very cheap, but on the other hand, this is not surprising. It does not come topped with cheese-like products or ketchup mixed with water. As far as ketchup is concerned - LeChalet cherishes the principle that ketchup is the killer of tastes. No ketchup is served at the restaurant. You should not event ask for it. However, after your next visit to LeChalet, you will surely think just like us and the owners of this marvelous place.

Remarkable - LeChalet also offers pizzas with seasonal toppings. At one point in autumn, we even tried a pumpkin pizza. It was remarkable! The pizza topped with (genuine!) Parma ham will delight any meat-eater. TreFromaggi - delicious! Especially since each of the cheeses is exceptional and genuine!

It is also worth having a look at the pasta menu. We once had the chance to try exquisite pasta with truffles. LeChalet desserts are also iconic.

The menu at LeChalet is based on just a few seasonal ingredients, but at the same time, it is rich and interesting. Have a close look every time you visit the restaurant, as it will always surprise you with a new delicious treat that you simply need to try! LeChalet is also one of the few restaurants in the Tatra mountains where you don’t need to choose your drinks from among „junk” beverages produced by large concerns. The rich variety of freshly squeezed juices by Maurer, wonderful mineral waters in glass (SIC!) bottles and Italian wine will keep you satisfied.

We have read many reviews of LeChalet online. There were many negative ones, talking about small portions, high prices, no ketchup and slow service. Well - for us, most of these negatives look more like positives. The portions are not small. They are just right to enjoy the taste and not just stuff your face. It is far from expensive. But if you are looking for a 50 cm pizza with poor quality cheese (or even cream cheese, which we have actually seen in one of the Polish pizza places), you can stay in the centre of Zakopane. LeChalet cooks on the basis of genuine Italian products, which are not cheap. We won’t even comment on the ketchup issue, as we can’t imagine killing the taste of the pizza. The waiters seem not be in a hurry and might seem quite strict. This is yet another advantage. If you are in a hurry, you can visit your nearest fast food joint. Time at LeChalet is supposed to pass slowly, like in the Italian countryside. And it does. Tastily and slowly, making you reluctant to leave the place.

Credit cards are accepted at LeChalet. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. On all other days of the week, you can eat here from noon to 10 p.m. In the low season, the restaurant is also closed on Wednesdays and open to 9 p.m. on all other days.
